Women In Nephrology's Mentorship Program

Mentor Match

WIN launched its' Mentor Match Program in August of 2022. Any WIN member who is seeking to be a mentor or who needs mentorship can join the program. The program is open to national or international WIN members, medical students, graduate students, nephrology fellows, and both junior and senior attendings. Benefits of this program include but are not limited to the ability to gain a mentor outside of one's home institution, networking opportunities, academic advancement, personal development, learning skills on work-life balance, learning how to negotiate salaries and contracts, amongst others. Members connect with each other either virtually, on the phone, or in-person on a monthly basis at events and meetings. Potential mentors and mentees who are interested in joining the program initially fill a survey. Results of the survey are analyzed by the Mentorship Committee and based on responses matches are made. Mentor/mentee pairings are made on a quarterly basis.

Thus far, WIN has made a total of 16 mentor/mentee pairings. In addition to the pairings, an anonymous survey is sent out quarterly assessing individual mentor and mentee's satisfaction with the program. Results of the recent satisfaction survey were positive.
